Denis Dailleux is renowned for the unique and passionate portrait of Egypt he has been shaping for more than fifteen years. In search of new creative horizons, he has also been traveling regularly to Ghana since 2009. The fishermen of James Town, an old district of Accra, the capital, have become one of his favorite subjects. Within this community, he finds a powerful source of imagery — seascapes beneath ever-changing skies, the balletic movements of fishermen, and the lives of women and children working along the harbor.There, he explores new relationships between body and space, life and death, religion and the sea — relationships that continually renew his photography. The serenity and pictorial clarity of his images re-enchant a world and territories now under threat, making them all the more precious.

Denis Dailleux est célèbre pour le portrait inédit et passionné de l’Égypte qu’il élabore depuis plus de quinze ans. En quête de nouveaux espaces de création, il se rend aussi régulièrement au Ghana depuis 2009. Les pêcheurs du port de James Town, ancien quartier d’Accra, la capitale, sont devenus l’un de ses sujets favoris. Il trouve au sein de cette communauté une source d’images fortes : marines aux ciels changeants, ballets des pêcheurs, vie des femmes et des enfants qui travaillent sur le port… Il y explore de nouvelles relations au corps et à l’espace, à la vie et à la mort, à la religion, à la mer, qui renouvellent sa photographie. La sérénité, l’évidence picturale de ses images réenchantent un monde et des territoires aujourd’hui menacés et sont, à ce titre, d’autant plus précieuses.
